Yara to be present at COP21 in Paris

Oslo, November 17, 2015
More than ever climate challenges need closer cooperation, increased focus on knowledge sharing and faster industrialization of innovative solutions. Yara will be present at the upcoming climate conference in Paris to focus on solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
Action through connection

Yara has joined forces with the Norwegian  NGO Bellona, CICERO (the climate research institute) and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to host a pavilion, which is located in the Blue Zone inside the main convention in Centre Le Bourget.

At the pavilion, a range of seminars, press conferences and briefings will be hosted. This cooperation between civil society, the private sector, an academic research institute and the government is quite extraordinary in the context of looking for solutions to climate challenges.

UNs climate conference is held in Paris between November 30 and December 11. This will be the most important meeting since world leaders met in Copenhagen in 2009.

Food security and climate challenges are interlinked. It is impossible to solve one without the other. The world will be populated by 9 billion people by 2050. This means we need to grow 60% more food to feed everyone - sustainably. Today, 800 million people suffer from hunger. We cannot solve the climate crisis without securing global food supply. It means we will have to produce more food per liter of water, per kilo of fertilizer, per square meter of arable land. Yara  explores solutions to these challenges through Climate-Smart Agriculture, which means focus on improved agricultural practices and sustainable use  of crop nutrition.
