Support the vote for a global Sulphur oxide limit by 2020! Watch this one-minute video to see why it matters.
Comply with current and future Marine NOx and SOx Regulations by installing Yara’s emission reduction technology systems.
Future Regulations – Support the Vote for 2020
In October 2016, the IMO will go to vote deciding whether a stricter, global Sulphur oxides limit will be implemented in 2020 – or delayed to 2025. It is known that Sulphur oxides (SOx) cause many deaths every year. Setting a global Sulphur oxides cap will have a positive effect on the air we breathe and save thousands of lives every year.
Feasibility studies show that there is sufficient supply of required fuel oil and suitable abatement technologies to help all vessels comply with a global legislation. Yara Marine Technologies has installed over 100 SOx removal inline scrubbers to maritime vessels, and continues to do so. Each inline scrubber can already remove SOx to the legal requirement that is being reviewed for 2020.
Act now. Support the vote for 2020 implementation.
NOx emissions from shipping are increasingly regulated in NECAs (NOx Emission Control Areas). From 2016, new IMO Tier III requirements will require new builds to comply with NOx emission requirements in territorial waters. Canadian authorities and the United-States Environment Protection Agency (EPA) are already implementing a North American and U.S. Caribbean NECA imposing stringent NOx emission limits. Other NECAs will follow, as IMO regulations are adopted around the globe.
Yara’s NOxCare Marine is the total solution for ship owners and operators seeking to meet these new and emerging regulatory requirements.
In the autumn of 2008, the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) of the IMO agreed on the progressive reduction of maximum sulphur content in fuel used onboard. The limit applicable in Emission Control Areas will be reduced to 0.1% from January 1, 2015. The IMO also approved the cleaning of exhaust gas to reduce emissions to the same extent.
Emission Control Areas include the Baltic and North seas, the English Channel and the US and Canadian coast and inland waters.
Yara’s Green Tech Marine inline Scrubber system allows ship owners and operators to meet SOx regulatory requirements.
NOx Reduction - Reducing Nitrogen oxides at Sea
We are the market leader in marine NOx reduction technology with a unique emission abatement solution and experience from more than 1300 reference projects. Our solutions will reduce NOx emissions from a vessel by up to 99%.
Trust the track-record:
- Over 1300 Marine SCR systems installed worldwide
- The world leader in NOx reducing agent production and distribution
SOx Reduction – Cutting Sulphur oxides in Marine Vessels.
Our SOx scrubbers reduce SOx emissions to 0,1% - adhering to IMO strict regulations.
Yara Marine scrubbers will make any ship ready for IMO’s new Sulphur regulations proposed for 2020. The tailor made installation can handle fuel Sulphur content up to 3,5%, will fit any engine size and vessel type and, with an extremely small footprint, does not affect passenger or cargo space. Yara Marine scrubbers offer the safest handling with the highest quality anti corrosion steel component with the same lifetime as the ship to which its installed. The Yara Marine scrubber is the obvious choice for effective and efficient SOx reduction.
Trust the track-record:
- Nearly 100 scrubber systems installed worldwide
- Can handle fuel Sulphur content up to 3,5%
- The only scrubber in the market that allows Magnesium Oxide as alkali in closed loop
