HR information system

In 2011, Yara provided nearly 3,000 employees around the world with access to the Human Resources Information System (HR IS). The new system provides support for related HR processes such as talent management, KPI review and workforce planning.

Open Recruitment

Yara has a Global Internal Recruitment Policy that requires all vacancies to be advertised internally. The aim of this approach is to identify and harness the talents of all employees - and in doing so to empower each individual. By advertising all positions, Yara is signaling to its employees that they can and should drive their own careers. It also shows that Yara is committed to managing its talents in a transparent way, so that every employee with the right competence and motivation can develop his or her career, regardless of where they sit or whom they know.

Talent Management Framework

Yara’s Framework for Talent Management was strengthened in 2011 with the support from the HR IS system. This Framework sets out Yara’s vision for Talent Management and outlines some of the expectations and responsibilities of managers and employees. Yara’s goal is to effectively implement talent management, which involves a collaborative effort between individual employees, managers and HR at all levels and across the business.
In 2011, Yara designed a new Talent Development Mid-Year Review process. Over 1,200 employees on all continents and in all business segments took part in the pilot project.

Please see the Framework for Talent Management and People Development  for more information.

High Potentials program

Yara launched a small High Potentials program in August 2011. Thirteen young professionals, between 27 and 34 years old and representing 11 nationalities, were selected based on merit and potential. This is a rolling program, with annual uptake and exits, where the High Potentials are followed closely over a period of 2-3 years and are expected to hold 1-2 development positions within that period.
