Human rights indicator points

HR1 - Percentage and total number of significant investment agreements and contracts that include clauses incorporating human rights concerns, or that have undergone human rights screening.

Yara's Ethics and Compliance Integrity Due Diligence process is fully integrated in investment activities such as mergers and acquisitions, the establishment of joint ventures and other significant agreements.

HR3 – Total hours of employee training on policies and procedures concerning aspects of human rights that are relevant to operations, including the percentage of employees trained 

Yara continued to develop and reiterate the Yara Ethics Program throughout the organization in 2013. The implementation of the training initiative "Share it!" continued to encourage managers and employees to identify and reflect on ethical issues and how to handle them correctly, and to increase awareness about the ethical tools available, such as the Ethics Handbook and the Ethics Hotline.

Yara's interactive video learning program on Ethics is mandatory for all new employees, and it covers various topics including corruption, human rights, ethical supply chain, competition, facilitation payments, conflict of interest and personal conduct.

HR4 – Total number of incidents of discrimination and actions taken

There was one case of discrimination reported within Yara in 2013. The reported incident was investigated and followed-up according to Yara's investigation procedures.

HR 5 – Operations identified in which the right to exercise freedom of association and collective bargaining may be at significant risk, and actions taken to support these rights

In 2013, none of our reporting countries have identified that the right to exercise freedom of association and collective bargaining may be at significant risk.

HR6 – Operations identified as having significant risk for incidents of child labor and measures taken to contribute to the elimination of child labor

In 2013, none of our reporting countries have identified a significant risk for incidents of child labor.

HR 7 – Operations identified as having significant risk for incidents of forced or compulsory labor and measure to contribute to the elimination of forced or compulsory labor

In 2013, none of our reporting countries have identified a significant risk for incidents of forced or compulsory labor.

HR9 – Total number of incidents of violations involving rights of indigenous people and actions taken

In 2013, Yara had no reported incidents of violations involving rights of indigenous people.

HR11 - new Number of grievances related to human rights filed, addressed, and resolved through formal grievance mechanisms

In 2013 there were no grievances filed related to human rights.
