Norway Prime Minister visits Yara production site

Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg and the Director General of the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise Kristin Skogen Lund, visited Yara’s Porsgrunn site (Norway) – one of the most modern and eco-friendly fertilizer production facilities in the world. (Video)

During her visit, the prime minister highlighted the need for Norwegian industry to become more environmentally-friendly. NHO Director Kristin Skogen Lund underlined that Yara’s focus on CO2 abatement technology and energy saving initiatives presents a competitive advantage and is the only viable solutions to combat climate change.

Thanks to the installation of Yara-developed catalysts, the Porsgrunn site (140 km southwest of Oslo) has succeeded in cutting its emissions of CO2 equivalents by more than 80 percent since 2005. This technology, which Yara also sells to third parties, reduces global emissions of CO2 equivalents by close to 50 million tons a year, which corresponds to the total CO2 emissions of a country like Norway.
